The atmosphere facelift to the RSEC, to be completed by the middle of September, will give the arena more of a big-time college basketball feel.
The banners are only the beginning to what is one of the most ambitious enhancement projects for Murray State Basketball since new locker rooms and a weight room were built in 2004.
When Racer fans walk into the RSEC for the first basketball game of the season, they'll be treated to a brand new look and feel highlighted by two wide screen video boards standing 10 feet tall and spanning 18 feet wide. They will also immediately notice a brand new playing floor.
"I'm very excited about the enhancements we're making to the RSEC and what they will do to improve the college basketball atmosphere and overall fan experience," MSU Athletics Director Allen Ward said. "The video boards, the new floor, and even the conference banners, are further evidence of our continued commitment to Racer Basketball and program excellence."
The current RSEC floor will be refinished and repainted with standard NCAA volleyball lines and moved to Racer Arena at the end of the 2009 season.
