The Murray State men's tennis team sent seniors, Ben Clos
and Clay Waller out on a good note by defeating Eastern Illinois, 4-3, Saturday
afternoon at the Purcell Tennis Courts.
The Racers started with great momentum by sweeping the
doubles matches.
Clos teamed up with Jorge Caetano at No. 1 to defeat Justin
Haas and Jeff Rutherford, 8-3.
Luka Milicevic and Renaldo Domoney sealed the doubles point
by defeating Matyas Hilgert and Michael Sperry, 8-4.
In singles action, Clos was unable to come up with a win in
a tough match against Rutherford.
Clos was able to win the first set, 6-4, but dropped the next two, 7-5,
6-2.
Caetano defeated Jamie Firth, 6-1, 6-2, at No. 2.
Domoney won his match at No. 4 in two sets, 6-1, 6-2.
Milicevic defeated Warren Race in three close sets at No. 3,
6-3, 6-7, 6-3.
The Racers finished the season 5-12 overall and 2-4 in Ohio
Valley Conference action.
The OVC Tennis Championships
will begin Fri., Apr. 16th at the Lone Oak Tennis Center in Paducah,
Ky.
