MSU Golfers Compete At Kentucky State Amateur

Several current and former Murray State golfers are teeing it up this week at the 2010 AT&T Kentucky State Amateur Championship at Gibson Bay GC in Richmond, Ky.
After Tuesday’s first round, the best current Racer was Travis Thompson with a 1-under-par 71 good for a spot in 23rd place. Thompson, out of Marshall County HS in Benton, Ky., will be a freshman with MSU in the fall.
The best score carded by a former Racer was Mitchell Moore of Hopkinsville, Ky., with a 4-under-par 68 and a spot in seventh place in the field of 155 competitors.
Other scores from current MSU players included, William Hunt (Paducah, Ky.) in 65th place after a 74 and Hunter Ford (Padcuah, Ky.) with a 75 and a spot in 83rd place.
Former Racer Josh Rhodes (Paducah, Ky.) had a 1-under 71 and was in 23rd place, while Jared Wolfe (Louisville, Ky.) was in 83rd place with a 75. Chris Griffin (Paducah, Ky.) fired a 78 and was in 128th place.
Round two is set for Wednesday at Gibson Bay GC where the field will be cut to the low 70 players and ties.
