Senior earns second preseason All-America honor as a kick returner
Murray State senior wide receiver/kick returner Marcus Harris took home his second preseason All-America honor on Monday when he was named a third-team selection as a kicker returner by The Sports Network. Earlier this summer, Harris earned preseason Honorable Mention All-America honors as a kick returner by the Consensus Draft Services.
Harris (St. Louis, Mo.) led the Ohio Valley Conference and ranked seventh in the FCS last season after averaging 26.83 yards per kickoff return. His best game came in the 2009 season opener when he returned three kicks for 125 yards, including an 86 yard touchdown late in the third quarter. He followed that up by catching a 13-yard touchdown pass on the next offensive series, and then returning a punt 75 yards for a touchdown just two minutes later.
As a punt returner, Harris averaged 15 yards on seven returns.
The Racers open the 2010 campaign Sept. 2 on the road at Kent State.
