Racers Make Short Trip to Face UT Martin

This weekend, the Murray State coaches will participate in the 4th annual Coach for the Cure MD to raise awareness and funding for Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy research. Please visit www.CoachtoCureMD.org or text CURE to 90999 to donate $5.
Murray State quarterback Casey Brockman had another record-setting performance as he threw for 600 yards and seven touchdowns, while also catching a 15-yard touchdown pass against Tennessee State. He became just the fifth player in FCS history to throw for 600 yards, and set a new FCS record with 422 yards in the first half.
The efforts earned Brockman numerous accolades as he was named the adidas OVC Offensive Player of the Week on Sunday. He also garnered national awards as he was named the National Player of the Week by The Sports Network/Fathead.com and collegesportsmadness.com, as well as nation quarterback of the week by the College Football Performance Awards.
The Racer defense saw its scoreless streak come to an end after seven quarters. The defense allowed a touchdown in the second quarter against Tennessee State. It marked the first points allowed since early in the second quarter at Louisville, a streak that covered 121:34.
The Game
The Racers have a short week as they travel to face UT Martin on Sept. 22. Kickoff is set for 6:17 p.m. at Graham Stadium.
vs. UT Martin
The Racers put an end to a five-game losing streat to the Skyhawks with a convincing 52-16 victory a season ago. MSU leads the all-time series 35-14-1, including 16-8 in games playing in Martin.
Win No. 450
The Racers will be looking the program's 450th victory against UT Martin. MSU enters the game with a record of 449-386-6.
Racers Climb Into Polls
The Racers climbed into the top 25 for the first time since 2002 when they checked in at #24 in this weeks Sports Network/Fathead.com FCS Top 25 poll. MSU remained at #27 in the FCS Coaches Poll. The last time the Racers appeared in the polls was the final polls of the 2002 season.
Short Week
The Racers will only have a few days to get prepared for the game at UT Martin. MSU will only have four days to prepare for the Skyhawks, while UTM will enjoy a full week of preparation after playing last Thursday.
10,000 Strong
The Racers played in front of more than 10,000 fans for the first time since the 2000 season. The announced crowd of 10,031 was treated to a 58-27 victory. It was the largest opening-game crowd since more than 14,000 attended the 1996 opener against Tennessee State.
Brockman Has Career Day
Quarterback Casey Brockman broke his own school records as he went 45-for-67 for 600 yards and seven touchdowns. He set all four records last season. The completions, yards and touchdowns are also all OVC records.
600 Club
Casey Brockman became just the fifth quarterback in FCS history to pass for 600 yards in a game.

Murray State set six OVC single-game records in the victory over Tennessee State. The Racers set records for passing attempts (73), completions (48), yards (630), touchdown passes (8), first downs (37) and passing first downs (30).
Closing in on 100
Murray State closed in on its goal of running 100 plays in a game when the Racers ran 99 offensive plays against Tennessee State. The 99 plays breaks the old school record of 96 set against Austin Peay last season.
And Thats Another First Down
The Racers recorded 37 first downs in the victory over Tennessee State, setting a new single-game record. MSU also set a school record by gaining 30 first downs via the pass.
Robertson Earns CFPA Honor
Wide receiver Patrick Robertson was selected to the College Football Performance Awards honor roll after his 115-yard, three touchdown performance against Tennessee State.
Mitchell Catches and Throws TD
Junior receiver Ricky Mitchell touched the ball just two times on Saturday, but he made the most of both touches. He caught a 19-yard touchdown pass in the first quarter, and returned the favor with a 15-yard touchdown pass on a quarterback throw back to Casey Brockman in the second quarter.
Robertson Hauls in 3
Wide receiver Patrick Robertson had a career day against Tennessee State as he caught three touchdown passes from Casey Brockman. He finished the day with seven grabs for 115 yards.
Powell and Robertson Over 100
Walter Powell and Patrick Robertson each went over 100 yards receiving against UT Martin. It marked the first time since Marcus Harris and Rashad Daniels went over 100 yards against Eastern Illinois last season, that a pair of Racer receivers went over 100 yards. Powell finished the game with nine catches for 147 yards, while Robertson had seven catches for 115 yards.
13 Players Catch Passes
The Racers had 13 different players catch a pass in the victory over Tennessee State. They had 10 receivers, two running backs and a quarterback catch a pass in the victory.
Offense Reaches 700
The Racer offense found its rythym against Tennessee State as they amassed 707 yards of total offense. MSU also ran a school record 99 plays of offense, averaging 7.1 yards per play.
