Racers Announce 2012 Signing Class

Murray State head coach Chris Hatcher has announced the signing of 16 players to National Letter's of Intent to attend the University and begin playing football for the Racers in 2012. In addition, the Racers also announced the addition of seven players that joined the Racers at start of the Spring semester. The class consists of a trio of three-star recruits and three two-star recruits.
“We are real excited about this year's signing class,” said Hatcher. “We feel we were able to get the players that we were targeting and fill the needs we have heading into next season. This group has the potential to make an immediate impact as we push for a conference championship in 2012.”
Janawski Davis, WR, 5-7, 150, Eight Mile, Ala. (Blount)
Played for head coach Kelvin Sigler at Blount High School...helped the Leopards to a 10-2 record and the second round of the playoffs...led the team with 57 catches for 957 yards and 12 touchdowns...voted the team's best wide receiver...named Crichton Optimist Club Player of the Week.
Jerome Davis, DT, 6-2, 260, Buford, Ga. (Garden City Community College)
Spent the 2011 season at Garden City Community College...red-shirted the 2010 season at Kent State...two-year letterwinner for head coach Jess Simpson at Buford High School...named one of the top 75 players in Georgia...earned all-region honors as a senior after posting 90 tackles, including 15 tackles-for-loss, seven sacks and five forced fumbles...finished career with 205 tackles, 28 tackles-for-loss, 22 sacks and eight forced fumbles...helped the Wolves capture back-to-back state championships...rated a three-star recruit by Rivals.com, two-star recruit by Scout.com and a two-star recruit by ESPN...also lettered in track and field...finished second in the region in the discus as a junior.

Marquise Grizzle, RB, 5-7, 173, Barco, N.C. (Currituck County)
Played for head coach John Wheeler at Currituck County High School...earned all-state, all-area and all-conference honors after rushing for 3,085 yards and 50 touchdowns...finished season with 54 total touchdowns... set a school record with 455 yards and seven touchdowns in a victory over Bertie...rushed for over 300 yards in four games...also had at least four rushing touchdowns in eight games...had three-straight games of over 300-yard rushing and six touchdowns...gained 1,582 yards and scored 17 touchdowns as a junior.
