Racers Take Road Match at SIU Edwardsville

The Murray State women's tennis squad won its second consecutive match over the weekend, defeating SIU Edwardsville 5-2 in OVC action on Sunday.
The Racers (6-7, 3-1 OVC) won a hard-fought doubles point in the match. MSU Swept all three matches 9-8. The doubles teams of Ashley Canty and Carolyn Huerth (one), Megan Blue and Carla Suga (two) and Erin Patton and Suzaan Stoltz (three) picked up the victories.
The Racers were strong in singles play as well, taking four of the six singles matches. Suga picked up the win at number two singles over Kali Donner 6-3 and 6-2. Blue won at number three 6-4 and 6-4. Blue has won four of her last five singles matches for the Racers and is undefeated in conference play. Patton took the win at number four 6-7, 6-2 and 10-5 over Haley Ilcewicz. Huerth rounded-out the victories in singles play at number five with a 6-1, 7-5 win.
Canty fell at number one singles to Monique Krutak 6-2 and 7-6. Stoltz fell 8-4 at number six.
The Racers will return to action next weekend as they will begin a three match home stand. MSU will face UT Martin at 2 p.m. on Friday and will host Southeast Missouri Saturday morning beginning at nine.
