In 2010, the Racers home got a new name when the Regional Special Events Center became the CFSB Center.
1998, the Racers moved into the building and the 2014-15 season will be their 17th in the arena.
Since 1998, the Racers have enjoyed a big home court advantage as Murray State is among the best in the nation with an outstanding winning percentage.
In MSU's 16 seasons of basketball at the CFSB Center, they have compiled a record of 196-33 for a winning percentage of .854.
MSU has lost two straight games only a handful of times and have never lost three straight in the building.
New for the 2014-15 season is a newly painted floor that features the updated familiar MSU logo featuring the thoroughbred and jocky in full sprint.
The floor was installed before the 2009-10 seasonafter it was used only once at a regional site of the NCAA Tournament in 2009.

Before the start of the 2009-10 season, the CFSB Center saw two huge video boards installed above gate-A and gate-B.The video boards made a great game atmosphere even better.Now fans can come to the game and see replays and other features during MSU contests.
The CFSB Center was completed in June of 1998 after the Kentucky State Legislature committed 18 million dollars to the project and MSU came up with two million.
The CFSB Center is a popular destination for the people of the Purchase Area of western Kentucky as it also hosts annual events that include high school basketball playoffs, concerts, trade shows and Murray State commencements.
The Racers have a great locker suite that is the hub of activity especially when the season is going on.
MSU student-athletes have a modern private locker area that features individual cubicles and the team gathers in a ready room that has theatre-style seating for film study and a large TV-lounge area where the team can relax after practice or a game.The room also has a small kitchen.
MSU student-athletes also have access to a modern 3,000 square foot weight room in the CFSB Center.The Racers take advantage of the
weight room to get bigger, stronger and faster.
The CFSB Center is a place fitting one of the best basketball programs in the nation, as is the new Ray Center where the MSU Basketball now calls home.
| The Gene W. Ray Center for Racer Basketball opened Feb. 26, 2013. Through the generous gifts of Dr. Ray and his wife Taffin, the Morgan and Suiter families, Jim Thomas and his daughter Beth Williams, Proud To Be A Racer Publications and CFSB, the project became a reality at about a year after ground was broken. The new facility will be a great resource for the women's and men's Murray State basketball programs. The Ray Center is a spacious facility that is first-class in every way with comfortable office space and a full-size basketball court and six baskets. Adjacent to the CFSB Center where the Racers have played their home games since 1998, the Ray Center has inside entrances from the CFSB Center from both locker rooms and the athletic training room. Visible from highway 121 that runs the north side of the building, there is also a front entrance on the east side with a comfortable lobby area leading to each team's office suites. Total space in the facility measures 180,000 square feet and features an open feel with ground-to-ceiling windows along the entire front of the building. The court area was also designed to let natural light filter in. |
Pinnacle, Inc. (Benton, Ky.) was the general contractor for the project. Dennis W. Smith is the President of Pinnacle and Craig Schwettman is vice president. MSU Chief Facilities Officer Kim Oatman, and Assistant Director David Brickeen served in their role for Murray State. The architectural firm of Hastings and Chivetta of St. Louis., Mo. designed the building.
