Murray State University's men's tennis team dropped a pair of matches today in Memphis, Tenn. MSU fell to Southeastern Louisiana University, 5-2, and then lost to the University of Memphis, 7-0. The Racers fall to 2-10 on the season.

In the first match of the day against Southeastern Louisiana (9-9), the Racers got off to a quick start by winning two of the three doubles matches to earn the doubles point. Dmytro Hryhorash and Fadi Zamjaoui defeated Ondrej Krivka and Matthieu Leboucher, 8-3, at No. 1 doubles. Hunter Gerlach and Chris Horton took out Jakub Kwasniewicz and Olivier Zieleniecki by the score of 8-6.

Southeastern Louisiana stormed back in singles play and won five of the six matches, including two three-set matches, to claim the team victory.

Krivka defeated Hryhorash in three sets, 6-2, 4-6 and 6-3, at No. 2 singles. Vladimir Paunic edged Gerlach, 6-7 (4-7), 6-2 and 6-3, at No. 3 singles.

MSU's lone singles victory came from Chris Horton in the No. 6 spot. The junior swept Zieleniecki 6-0 and 6-3.

Memphis swept all three doubles matches to earn the doubles point and then proceeded to finish off the match by winning all six singles matches.

All three doubles matches were close. Memphis took the match at No. 1 by an 8-7 score and won the matches at No. 2 and No. 3 by similar 8-5 scores.

In singles play Hryhorash won the first set, 6-2, over Jimmy Khougassian at No. 1, but Khougassian came back to win the next two sets, 6-3 and 10-6.

The Racers will return to Ohio Valley Conference play this weekend when they host Eastern Kentucky University on Friday and Morehead State University on Saturday. The match against EKU will begin at 2:30 p.m. on Friday. The match against Morehead State is scheduled for 10 a.m. on Saturday.

Both matches will be played at the Bennie Purcell Tennis Courts on the MSU campus.
